A stream-of-semi-consciousness amalgam of obscure references and the inane dribblings of a mind not merely twisted but actually sprained. To satisfy my own curiosity, and to help out the other readers, post a comment with any reference or other in-joke that you recognize that likely isn’t well-known. See also Nightmare and Perplexity for more verbal pandemonium.

Latin for “Great Work”, the capstone achievement of someone’s career. Thanks to Rich Burlew, Order of the Stick (strip #322) for the inspiration.

The Duke of Ferrara is the principle character in Robert Browning’s “My Last Duchess”, in which he describes the way he jealously had his wife put to death because she failed to properly appreciate him. This is my revisionist look at the character, trying to instill some hope into the story. Perhaps such hope is not warranted, in such case merely reread the original, I assure you it has not changed in the least.
